Sanguine is an organization that was founded by Esha Hindupur. Inspired by the optimism she saw in cancer patients while shadowing, Esha hopes to encourage this cheerfulness in other who may be facing challenges (whether its medical or other reasons), or who simply want academic or mental support.

The organization provides free and fun services like arts and tutoring to kids through a buddy system to support their wellbeing and academics.

Sanguine
The meaning behind the name
[adj.] Sanguine
1. Optimism and positivity, especially in bad situations
2. Blood red - although seemingly gory, it's association with health dates back to the Middle Ages. It was believed that health was determined by the liquids/humors in your body (phlegm, black and yellow bile, red blood). Sanguine was used to describe those with the humor of red blood. Those governed by this liquid/humor were associated with its vibrancy and rosiness, and thought to be healthy, confident, and strong. It was seen as life, especially because diseases were extremely prevalent in the Middle Ages. The flush of red compared to a pale or yellowed face was a sign of health and prosperity. Hence, sanguine transformed from a word that simply meant blood-red to health, strength, confidence, and finally optimism.
